Introducing the NCHS podcast

In this podcast, you will hear from humanitarian researchers and practitioners who share their findings and reflections on a different humanitarian issues from migration, conflict and disaster to health and governance.

In this first episode, Ekatherina Zhukova, Researcher at Lund University in Sweden, and Alicia Sliwinski, Associate Professor of Global Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, discuss what tools anthropology offers in addressing issues around development, humanitarianism, and disasters. Zhukova and Sliwinski explore concepts such as moral economy, disaster vulnerability and the notion of the ‘gift’.
