Arendalsuka is a democratic meeting place where actors within politics, business, NGOs and academia, and the public meet to discuss, debate and solve societal challenges.

Held over five days from Monday 15 to Friday 19 August in the city of Arendal, Norway, Arendalsuka 2022 will involve around 1000 events and 200 stands.

Monday 15 August

• 14:00 – 15:00: Dialogue with the Taliban: In Afghanistan, Oslo and Doha – Organised by the Afghanistan Committee, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and the Nansen Peace Center (streamed online and held in Norwegian)
• 19:00 – 20:00: Forces for good and bad: Emerging technologies and the future of humankind – Organised by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (held in English)

Tuesday 16 August 

• 09:30 – 11:15: Evacuated from Taliban? What happens to Afghan human rights defenders? – Organised by the Nansen Peace Center, the Rafto Foundation, the Norwegian Human Rights Foundation, the Afghanistan Committee and CMI (held in-person in English)
• 12:00 – 12:45: Volunteers’ efforts in the Ukraine crisis – Organised by Helpers.no (held in-person and streamed online in Norwegian)
• 16:15 – 17:00: ‘Ingen er så trygg i fare’: About refugees and human trafficking – Organised by Church of Norway and the Christian Council of Norway (held in-person and streamed online in Norwegian)
• 17:00 – 18:15 : Gender apartheid under the Taliban: How to support women and civil society in Afghanistan? – Organised by the Nansen Peace Center, the Rafto Foundation, the Afghanistan Committee, the Norwegian Human Rights Foundation and CMI (held in-person in English)

Thursday 18 August 

• 12:00 – 12:30: Are humanitarians close to retirement age (or are they still vital)? – Organised by the Human-Ethical Association (held in-person in Norwegian)

Held annually since 2012, Arendalsuka is the largest political gathering in Norway. All events at Arendalsuka are free and open to all. Some events are also streamed online.
