The 7th International Humanitarian Studies Association (IHSA) Conference took place on 5-7 November 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh and online, organised in partnership with North South University. The theme of the conference was ‘Humanitarianism in Changing Climates’.

Several NCHS associates organised and contributed to panels across the three day conference, including:

• Humanitarian studies in turbulent times: Taking stock of the Agenda for Humanity by Clara Egger (Erasmus University), Kristoffer Lidén and Kristina Roepstorff (PRIO)
• Governing digital risks in humanitarian action by Kristoffer Lidén (PRIO) and Susanne Jaspars (SOAS, University of London)
• South-South cooperation as enabler of localisation? by Dennis Dijkzeul (Ruhr University Bochum) and Kristina Roepstorff (PRIO)
• Humanitarian studies theory seminar: Conceptualising the digital transformation by Kristin Bergtora Sandvik (PRIO and UiO)
• Practitioner-Academic virtual roundtable: ‘Taking stock: How is AI changing humanitarian work?’ by Kristin Bergtora Sandvik, Kristoffer Lidén and Maria Gabrielsen Jumbert (PRIO)

The next IHSA conference will take place in 2025.
