Seminar

Norwegian Red Cross during World War II

This seminar was held on Tuesday 14 June in Oslo

This seminar “The Norwegian Red Cross during World War II” was held on Tuesday 14 June from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Norwegian Red Cross, Hausmanns gate 7, Oslo.

To what extent did the Norwegian Red Cross manage to operate between 1940 and 1945? At a time when the principles of the Red Cross movement were being challenged, the organisation, interacting between the occupation regime and civil society – with international law and the basic humanitarian principles as central focal points – managed to substantiate its own independence and emerge stronger from the war years.
